US Consumers Face Rising Costs Due to Tariffs, German Firms Increase Prices

According to a detailed survey released by the German Industry and Commerce Chamber on Friday, more than two-thirds of German companies doing business in America have adopted a strategy of increasing prices to recover the additional expenses caused by American tariff policies from customers.

More than 4,500 German companies operating worldwide participated in the survey. The survey showed that American trade policy, tariffs, and policy uncertainty continue to be major business challenges for foreign companies.

According to the report, after the new tariffs implemented by America last year, companies initially experienced great confusion and pressure. However, recently, there has been some improvement in the business environment. 43 percent of German companies in America stated that the current business situation is good. This number was only 39 percent in the autumn of 2025.

However, the German Industry and Commerce Chamber stated that the current improvement cannot be considered entirely positive. According to the organization, the current business situation is still weaker than the long-term average, indicating that companies remain cautious about the American market.

The survey also showed that German companies are not fully optimistic about the US economy. Approximately 30 percent of companies estimate that the US economic situation will worsen in the next year. Conversely, only 24 percent of companies believe that the economic situation will improve.

According to experts, the long-term impact of tariffs will ultimately fall on consumers, making price increases for goods and services a major cause of inflation in the American market.
