Harkaraj Rai Demands PM Balen Shah's Resignation

Kathmandu. Chairman of the Labor Culture Party and Federal MP Harkaraj Rai (Sampang) has demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Balen Shah. Issuing a press release today, MP Sampang demanded that the Prime Minister resign from his post, stating that the Prime Minister had insulted the parliament and disregarded parliamentary tradition.

MP Sampang accused Prime Minister Balen Shah of casting a 'black stain' on the history of parliamentary practice and disregarding the sovereign house of the people.

Sampang's accusation is that he was absent during the policy and program, did not participate in the discussion, could not maintain parliamentary dignity and decorum, and disregarded the trust in democracy by not addressing the public. 

In the statement, Sampang described the Prime Minister as 'incapable and unsuccessful' and asked, 'What precedent will be set by a tendency to forget one's own ground and hide, unable to answer the people's questions?' He urged the Prime Minister to pave the way by resigning on moral grounds, as he had not even fulfilled his minimum duties.

'Since rights are not obtained without fulfilling duties, it seems that democracy will be honored if the Prime Minister resigns from his post on moral grounds for not fulfilling even the minimum duties and paves the way,' the statement said.
