Chinese President Xi Jinping Expresses Desire for Constructive US-China Relations

Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping has said he wants to make US-China relations a constructive, strategic, and stable relationship. He said this during a meeting with US President Donald Trump, who is on a two-day visit to China.

What did President Xi mean? According to Chinese experts, this expression indicates Beijing's thinking that even if relations between the US and China are not smooth, they will not be allowed to go out of control.

'The US is not China's partner, nor is it an ally, which does not mean we want to make it an enemy, nor does it mean we want war or confrontation with it,' said Da Wei, a professor of international relations at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Wei said that China wants to avoid war or division and wants a stable basis for building relations with the US.

However, Xin Yinh, an international relations expert at Renmin University of China, said that Xi's expression could be just 'cheap political rhetoric'.
