Pramila Aryal Questions Government's Move to Sideline Parliament

Kathmandu. CPN-UML's Pramila Aryal has questioned the government's new thinking, stating that it is an attempt by the executive to impose arbitrariness by sidelining the parliament. Speaking during an emergency time in the House of Representatives meeting, MP Aryal opposed the ordinance brought by the government and the recommendation for the appointment of the Chief Justice.

She stated that in a democracy, the government cannot be more powerful than the sovereign parliament. 'In a democracy, the government can be powerful, but it cannot be more powerful than the sovereign parliament,' said MP Aryal.

She said that the government has unleashed bulldozer terror in the slum settlements without any suitable alternative. She questioned whether an attempt was being made to capture the judiciary as well.
