11 Family Members Fall Ill After Consuming Wild Mushrooms

Jhapa. 11 members of a family have fallen ill after eating wild mushrooms. The family of Tej Bahadur Khawas of Bhaddasi Rural Municipality-2, Buttabari, fell ill after making and eating a dish of wild mushrooms for breakfast this morning.

All family members experienced health problems after eating the mushrooms brought from the wild, said District Police Office Information Officer Khagendra Bahadur Khadka. According to him, 50-year-old Kamala Maya Khawas, 31-year-old Dilli Khawas, 20-year-old Anita Khawas, and eight children have fallen ill.

Khadka informed that after initial treatment at Provincial Hospital Bhadrapur for immediate treatment, nine people were sent to the Children's Hospital in Damak for further treatment. According to him, two of the patients are in moderate condition and the rest are in normal condition.

Meanwhile, the police have urged the general public not to eat unidentified mushrooms as consuming wild mushrooms can be poisonous and pose health risks.
