Roads Affected by Rain, Landslides and Floods

Kathmandu. Due to continuous rain, floods and landslides for the past few days, transportation has been affected on various main highways of the country. According to the data released by the Nepal Police this morning at 6 AM, some roads are completely blocked while some have been brought into one-way operation.

The B.P. Highway, which passes through Kavrepalanchok district of Bagmati Province, has been severely affected by floods. This road section is completely blocked due to floods in various places in Namobuddha Municipality Ward No. 6 Choukidaanda and Roshi Rural Municipality. Similarly, vehicle operation has been stopped on the Khurkot-Nepal Thok-Katunjebesi road due to the possibility of floods.

However, the Kanti Lokpath, connecting Lalitpur and Makwanpur, has now been cleared of landslides and is operational. The Arniko Highway in Sindhupalchok is also in operation.

In Koshi Province, due to continuous rain in Ilam district, the district Ilam road and the internal unpaved road going to Jhapa are completely blocked. Similarly, the Bokhim section of the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur is only one-way operational due to floods. The Sukimba-Dovan road section in Taplejung has been fully operational after the landslide was cleared.

In Gandaki Province, partial obstruction remains on the main highways. The Beni-Jomsom road section in Myagdi and the Mid-Hill Highway in Lamjung are only one-way operational due to landslides. Vehicles have been plying one-way since the 22nd after a landslide occurred in Bimirebhanjyang in Madhya-Nepal Municipality, Lamjung.

As there is still a risk of landslides and floods in various places, officials have urged travelers to contact the traffic police office or the district administration office of the concerned district to inquire about the road conditions before undertaking long-distance journeys.
