Russia and Iran Discuss Nuclear Program and Middle East Security

Moscow. A telephone conversation was held between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. During the conversation, both sides exchanged views on Iran's nuclear program and the overall security situation in the Middle East.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, a serious and constructive dialogue took place on the current developments in the regional situation and the possibility of peacefully resolving the escalating tensions. Both ministers emphasized the importance of early cessation of conflict and diplomatic efforts necessary to maintain regional stability. The Russian side reiterated its commitment to continuously support mediation and diplomatic initiatives, encouraging all parties to seek solutions through dialogue and understanding. Preparations to support the advancement of the political process to achieve lasting peace and stability were also expressed.

The talks also included a cordial discussion on the safe operation of international maritime routes, especially ensuring the safe passage of Russian ships and goods through the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides consider this issue extremely important from the perspective of international trade and energy supply.

This dialogue has been taken as a positive sign of the continuous diplomatic contact between the two countries and their shared commitment to regional peace and stability.
