Birgunj Customs Collects NPR 3.15 Billion Revenue in Three Days Despite Trader Boycott

Parsa. Despite entrepreneurs-traders not participating in the customs clearance process for three consecutive days, the Birgunj Customs Office has collected revenue of NPR 3.15 billion by clearing customs for petroleum products in three days.

The Birgunj Customs Office stated that entrepreneurs-traders have not been participating in the customs clearance process for imported and exported goods since May 15, in order to implement the maximum retail price (MRP) of imported and exported goods.

Udaysingh Bisht, Information Officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that even though entrepreneurs-traders did not participate in the customs clearance process for three consecutive days, customs clearance for petroleum products, industrial raw materials, and vegetables and fruits resulted in revenue collection of approximately NPR 3.15 billion in three days.

According to the Birgunj Customs Office, revenue of NPR 350 million was collected on May 15.

Similarly, revenue of NPR 1.90 billion was collected on May 16. Similarly, revenue of NPR 900 million was collected on May 17 as well, informed Information Officer Bisht.

"Revenue was collected due to the customs clearance of petroleum products," he said. Importers and domestic industries have not participated in the customs clearance process on the fourth day either.
