Tractors for modernizing agriculture

Baniyani (Jhapa) - The Paddy Super Zone Implementation Unit Baniyani under the Prime Minister's Agriculture Modernization Project has extended tractors to the agriculture cooperatives. 

Nine tractors were extended to six cooperatives as part of the project, Unit's Senior Agriculture Development Official, Meghnath Timalsena said. 

The tractors were handed over to contribute towards enhancing productivity. The agriculture cooperatives will play their part by providing services to the farmers in concessional rate. 

According to Super Administrator Committee Coordinator, Navaraj Bhattarai, Small Farmer Agriculture Cooperative Pathariya, New Future Small Farmers Cooperative Balubadi and Amarawati Agriculture Cooperative Pathariya received two tractors each while Small Farmer Agriculture Cooperative Balubadi, IEPM Agriculture Cooperative Topgachi and Jamunkhadi Agriculture Cooperative Kankai received one tractor each. 

The government had provided an economic assistance of Rs 20 million for purchasing agricultural tools for the paddy super zone project while the tractors were purchased with 50 per cent economic contribution from both the cooperative organizations and the state.
