Atletico Madrid and Arsenal Draw 1-1 in First Leg of Champions League Semifinal

KATHMANDU. Spanish club Atletico Madrid and English club Arsenal played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal.

In a highly competitive match held at Atletico's home ground on Thursday, both teams scored through penalties. In the 44th minute, towards the end of the first half, Victor Gyokeres scored from a penalty to give Arsenal an initial lead.

However, Atletico Madrid, the home team, made a comeback in the second half. In the 56th minute, Julian Alvarez scored from a penalty as well, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie. No further goals were scored after that, and both teams shared the points.

With this draw, the decision for final qualification will now be made in the second leg. As the first leg ended in a draw, both teams have an equal opportunity to reach the final.
