Trump's Approval Rating Hits Record Low Amidst Economic Concerns and Iran Conflict

KATHMANDU. U.S. President Donald Trump's popularity has fallen to its lowest level ever. According to a joint survey by international news agency Reuters and market research firm Ipsos, only 34 percent of Americans currently support Trump's performance. In the previous survey, this proportion was 36 percent.

When Trump took office in January 2025, his support rate was 47 percent. But his popularity has been declining continuously since then. It is analyzed that the Iran war and its resulting economic impact have significantly reduced his popularity. Since the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran on February 28, fuel prices have increased in the global market, making the cost of living more expensive for ordinary citizens.

According to the survey, only 22 percent of respondents supported Trump's performance in managing the cost of living. In the previous survey, this proportion was 25 percent. 

Most of the survey responses were collected before the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner held at the Washington D.C. Hilton Hotel on Saturday night. Future surveys will show how this incident has affected Trump's popularity. Trump
