Former Nepali Congress Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka Criticizes Ordinance Issuance Amidst Parliament Suspension

Kathmandu. Former acting president of Nepali Congress, Purna Bahadur Khadka, stated that suspending parliament and bringing ordinances cannot be considered right under any logic.

He wrote on social media – 'While it is considered natural for the government to bring ordinances in special circumstances when parliament is not in session, on essential matters that are highly beneficial to the country, this time something entirely different has happened. Suspending the convened parliamentary session and bringing ordinances cannot be justified by any logic.'

He further stated – 'The government should withdraw the ordinances and immediately convene a parliamentary session to pass the proposed matters through a bill from the parliament itself. Citing past wrong precedents of ordinances, the current government with approximately two-thirds majority charting its own course will be an act of arrogance. This will not serve the long-term interests of the government, the country and its people, nor democratic values.'
