National Assembly Chair at flood affected area

Parbat – National Assembly chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has on Friday inspected the Lasti Khola settlement that lies between Ward No 7 and 8 of Jaljala rural municipality which faced erosion and flooding on July 17. 


One hundred and twenty houses in the settlement are at risk while 14 families have already been displaced due to landslide. One person was killed due to landslide while three people who sustained serious injuries in the incident are undergoing treatment at Gandaki Medical College hospital in Pokhara. 


In course of the on-site inspection of the flood and landslide hit settlement today, the Upper House Chair expressed commitment for taking initiatives for providing immediate relief and rehabilitation of the landslide-affected people. 


He said the families of those killed and injured due to the landslide would be given compensation from the state treasury. 
On the occasion, the NA Chair distributed food grains to the victim families through the rural municipality chairperson Ram Krishna Malla. 


The District Disaster Management Committee has demanded Rs 35.09 million with the government for controlling the river erosion.
