Nepal Secures Crucial 37-Run Victory Over UAE in ICC World Cup League 2

Kathmandu. In a crucial ICC World Cup League 2 match held today at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Nepal defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 37 runs.

With this victory, Nepal has strengthened its hopes of finishing in the top six to retain its One Day International (ODI) status. 

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal was bowled out for 202 runs in 48.2 overs. All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee delivered an outstanding performance, contributing a team-high 75 runs. He faced 90 balls, hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. However, he received little support from the other batters. 

In Nepal's batting lineup, opener Kushal Bhurtel scored 24 runs, while Karan KC added 22, Bashir Ahmed 20, and Aarif Sheikh and Sompal Kami contributed 15 runs each. Bhim Sharki was dismissed for 10 runs, while opener Aasif Sheikh scored 7 and captain Rohit Paudel returned to the pavilion with only 2 runs.

For the UAE, Aayan Khan and Junaid Siddique bowled brilliantly, taking 3 wickets each. 

Chasing a target of 203 runs, the UAE was bundled out for 163 runs in 48.2 overs, handing Nepal a 37-run victory. For the UAE, Harmeet Singh scored a team-high 39 runs, while Muhammad Waseem added 34 and Akshdeep Nath scored 30 runs. 

Nepal's bowlers played a pivotal role in the victory. Karan KC delivered an excellent performance, taking 4 wickets. Sompal Kami claimed 2 wickets, while Dipendra Singh Airee, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Lalit Rajbanshi took 1 wicket each. Captain Rohit Paudel, who bowled two overs, remained wicketless. 

Today's win has earned Nepal crucial points in the ICC World Cup League 2 standings. Nepal now has 14 points from 21 matches, with 6 wins, 13 losses, and 2 no-results. The UAE, also having played 21 matches, sits in eighth place with 10 points and 15 losses.
