Third Karnali International Film Festival 2083 Concludes in Birendranagar

Kathmandu. The 'Third Karnali International Film Festival 2083' held in Birendranagar, the capital of Karnali Province, has concluded. Organized under the slogans 'Let's tour Karnali, let's see Karnali' and 'Nepali cinema in every person, Nepali cinema in every heart,' the festival served as a vital link connecting Karnali's art, culture, and tourism with the film industry. 

Conducted with the active participation and collaboration of the Film Development Board, the festival aims to promote Karnali as an attractive destination for film shooting and a source for story development. The Board has also committed to the institutional development of this region as a potential area for film tourism.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel expressed his commitment to providing concrete policies and budget for the development of the film sector. Similarly, the Karnali Academy of Arts and Literature announced that it would provide special cooperation and encouragement to producers and directors coming to shoot in Karnali.

'Launch of Film Story Competition' A major highlight of the festival was the launch of the 'Film Story Competition.' It is believed that this competition will play a significant role in bringing Karnali's geography, lifestyle, language, and history to the world through the silver screen. As part of the long-term plan to develop Karnali as an international shooting hub, a special film tourism event was also organized at Kupinde Lake in Salyan. The event saw notable participation from Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel, Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning Rajiv Bikram Shah, Member of the House of Representatives Gyanendra Shahi, Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC, member Ganesh Prasad Subedi, as well as senior figures from the film industry, artists, technicians, and journalists. 

Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC stated that in line with the policy of connecting Nepali cinema with the country's diverse geography and culture, such festivals will prove to be milestones in bringing Karnali's originality to the world. The organizers stated that the festival has prepared a strong foundation to establish Karnali Province not just as a tourist site, but as an integrated destination for film, culture, and tourism.
