Government Issues Ultimatum to Clear Squatter Settlements Along Bagmati River

Kathmandu. The government is set to clear the squatter settlements located along the banks of the Bagmati River. With preparations underway to deploy bulldozers on Saturday and Sunday, the government has issued an ultimatum for the area to be vacated by 7 PM today. 

Following government directives, the police began public announcements via loudspeaker on Thursday evening. Squatters have been instructed to vacate the settlements by Friday evening. Announcements will continue throughout the day today, with plans to deploy bulldozers early Saturday morning. 

Squatter settlements are located in areas including Thapathali, Sinamangal, Teku, and Balkhu along the Bagmati riverbanks. Preparations are being made to deploy bulldozers in Thapathali on Saturday.
