Three arrested for foreign employment fraud in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Police have arrested three individuals on charges of defrauding people by promising them lucrative jobs abroad.

The arrested individuals are 32-year-old Shakti Lama from Makwanpur, currently residing in Dallu, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15; 49-year-old Bishnu Budhathoki from Udayapur, residing in Chandragiri, Kathmandu; and 28-year-old Susmita Maharjan, residing in Kirtipur Municipality-10, Kathmandu.

Among the accused, Shakti allegedly collected 2,663,710 rupees from six victims with the promise of sending them to Azerbaijan and Fiji; Bishnu collected 450,000 rupees from one victim promising employment in Brunei; and Susmita collected 1,700,000 rupees from one victim promising to send them to Austria before cutting off contact. 

Acting on complaints from the victims, police from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested Bishnu on Tuesday from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, and Susmita from Kirtipur Municipality-10 and Shakti from Dallu, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15 on Wednesday. 

 They have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal action.
