Kathmandu District Security Committee convenes to discuss squatter settlement eviction

Kathmandu. Following Mayor Balendra Shah 'Balen's' directive to remove squatter settlements, Kathmandu's Chief District Officer Ishwor Raj Paudel has initiated discussions with district security chiefs. A meeting of the District Security Committee is currently underway at the District Administration Office in Babarmahal, starting from 11:00 AM.

The meeting is attended by Kathmandu SSP Ramesh Thapa, along with representatives from the Armed Police Force, the National Investigation Department, and the Nepal Army. On Wednesday, Mayor Shah summoned security chiefs and directed them to clear the squatter settlement in Thapathali this coming Saturday and Sunday.

Following this directive, Chief District Officer Paudel called for the District Security Committee meeting. An official from the District Administration Office stated, 'The District Security Committee meeting is currently in session.'

Security officials indicate that the meeting will focus on the evacuation of the squatter settlement, with plans to develop and implement a security strategy.
