Samrat Sporting Club Advances to Semifinals of Virat Gold Cup 2082

Morang. Samrat Sporting Club, Biratnagar, has advanced to the semifinals of the Virat Gold Cup Football-2082 tournament.

In the knockout match held on Tuesday under the floodlights of Sahid Rangashala in Biratnagar, organized by the Virat Gold Cup Football Trust, Samrat defeated Birsa Munda Sports Academy from Jharkhand, India, with a score of 3-1.

Shankar Kisku scored for Birsa Munda in the 44th minute, while Samrat's Mausam Limbu scored in the 50th minute, followed by Pratap Tamang in the 86th minute. In injury time, Pratap Tamang scored his second goal, securing a 3-1 victory for his team. Pratap Tamang, who delivered an outstanding performance, was declared Player of the Match and received a cash prize of Rs 11,000.

The tournament will continue until Baisakh 5, 2083, featuring eight teams from Nepal and India. Trust Chairman Kishor Bahadur Shahi stated that in this 38th edition of the Virat Gold Cup, the winner will receive Rs 1.1 million, the runner-up Rs 500,000, and awards of Rs 15,000 each for the best coach, best goalkeeper, and top scorer. The best player of the tournament will receive Rs 51,000, and the player of the match for each game will receive Rs 11,000.

The organizers announced that the first semifinal match of the tournament will take place on Wednesday between the departmental team Nepal Police Club and Jhapa 11.
