Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel Discloses Assets

Kathmandu. The asset details of Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel have been made public.

According to the details released by the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday, Minister Pokharel has declared total assets worth 241.6 million rupees. This includes properties worth millions, gold and silver, vehicles, bank balances, and investments in various company shares.

As per the disclosed details, Minister Pokharel owns a two-and-a-half-story house built on three aana of land in Kathmandu, valued at 40 million rupees. Additionally, he owns six aana of land in Mulpani, Kathmandu, valued at 50 million rupees. He also holds one kattha of land in Morang, valued at 10 million rupees.

Regarding family assets, his father owns a plot of four aana two paisa in Kathmandu, valued at 25 million rupees. His mother, Minakshi Pokharel, is listed as owning land in Godawari worth 15 million rupees and land in Gokarneshwor worth another 15 million rupees. The details also mention that the entire family, including his mother, owns 11 ropani and four aana of land in Godawari, valued at 50 million rupees.

Minister Pokharel possesses 25 tola of gold and 100 tola of silver, with a total value of 7.5 million rupees. He also declared 25,000 rupees in cash. He stated that these assets were acquired through his mother's dowry, his father's employment, and ancestral property. 

In terms of bank balances, he holds 248,000 rupees in Sanima Bank and 200,000 rupees in NIC Asia Bank, totaling 448,000 rupees. Furthermore, the asset statement indicates that the family has invested 17.7 million rupees in shares of various companies.

Regarding vehicles, his father owns an EV car worth 7 million rupees, and Minister Pokharel personally owns another car valued at approximately 4 million rupees. He also declared a liability of 7.5 million rupees in his statement.

Including all these assets and liabilities, Minister Pokharel has declared his total net worth to be 241.6 million rupees.
