Deadly Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire hit Lebanon overnight

Beirut. Israel launched deadly airstrikes and artillery attacks across Lebanon overnight, resulting in multiple casualties as the offensive continues.

According to the state-run National News Agency, Israeli warplanes targeted two towns in southern Lebanon, while artillery shelling was reported in other areas.

In the town of Maroub, an attack on a house reportedly killed and injured more than seven members of the same family. Furthermore, additional attacks were reported across various regions until Sunday morning.

Israel has been conducting operations against Hezbollah since the beginning of March. The conflict escalated after the Iran-backed group fired rockets toward Israel following US-Israeli strikes on Iran.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed on social media Sunday morning that they destroyed a rocket launcher in the Zoya region of southern Lebanon that was prepared for an attack.

'The launcher was destroyed in a swift operation before it could be used to attack Israel,' the IDF stated.
