Iran Questions U.S. Commitment Following Stalled Peace Talks

Islamabad. Following the inconclusive end to historic peace talks between the United States and Iran, Tehran has raised questions regarding Washington's seriousness. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei issued a statement via social media, clarifying that the success of the negotiations depends entirely on the goodwill and sincerity of the American side.

While spokesperson Baghaei described the talks as 'highly intensive,' he labeled the demands put forward by Washington as 'excessive and illegal.' He urged the U.S. to abandon its stubborn and coercive approach and instead recognize Iran's legitimate rights and national interests. Iran has signaled that it will not accept any conditions that compromise its sovereignty or regional interests.

Baghaei noted that the ongoing talks are primarily focused on three agendas: the future of the Strait of Hormuz, considered a lifeline for global energy supply; the nature of Iran's nuclear program; and the complete end to the war occurring in Iran. It is understood that reaching a consensus remains difficult due to the significant gap between the positions of both nations.

As Iran accuses the U.S. of making 'unwarranted demands,' Washington has signaled it will remain firm on its conditions, leaving efforts to end the weeks-long conflict at a critical impasse.
