Nepal Veterinary Association Honors Former President Dr. Shital Kaji Shrestha

Butwal. On the occasion of its 16th National Conference, the Nepal Veterinary Association has honored its former president, Dr. Shital Kaji Shrestha, with the NVA National Award 2026. Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya presented the award to Dr. Shrestha while inaugurating the two-day conference held in Tilottama, Rupandehi.

The award recognizes his distinguished contribution to the advancement of Nepal's veterinary sector and his efforts in establishing it on the international stage. Dr. Shrestha played a leadership role in including veterinary services within the state's 'essential services'.

Having become the youngest president in the association's 60-year history, he successfully led the organization for three consecutive terms, spanning seven years. Under his initiative, the SAARC Regional Veterinary Association was also established, which has helped foster cooperation in animal health among South Asian countries.

During the same ceremony, the association also honored Professor Dr. Bhuminanda Devkota of the Agriculture and Forestry University for his significant academic and professional contributions to the field of animal reproduction.
