Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to Visit US Amid Escalating Tensions

Kathmandu. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam is set to visit the United States in the coming days. According to CNN, citing Lebanese government sources, the visit was scheduled following Israel's proposal for direct talks with Lebanon. This development comes as a fragile two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran remains in place.

However, tensions are rising over whether the ongoing attacks in Lebanon fall under the scope of that agreement. Despite the ceasefire, Israel continues to strike targets belonging to the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah. 

Lebanese officials reported that at least 300 people were killed in a major attack on Wednesday. The White House has been contacted for comment on this matter, but no official statement has been issued yet.
