Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal to Attend 9th Indian Ocean Conference in Mauritius

Kathmandu. Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal is set to depart today for Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, to participate in the 9th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC) starting tomorrow, at the invitation of India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

‘Collective Guardianship for Indian Ocean Governance’ is the theme of the conference, which is being organized by the India Foundation in collaboration with the Government of Mauritius on Chaitra 27 and 28.

During the conference, Foreign Minister Khanal will present Nepal's national position. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he will outline Nepal's perspective on Indian Ocean governance, the mountain-ocean ecological relationship, and the importance of maritime connectivity for economic development.

As part of his participation, Minister Khanal is also scheduled to hold meetings with his counterparts from various countries. He will return to Nepal on Chaitra 30.
