Police arrest NGO director for extorting foreign employment victims

Kathmandu. Police have arrested the director of an organization for allegedly extorting money from victims of foreign employment fraud under the guise of providing rescue services.

The arrested individual is 66-year-old Indra Lal Gole, who identified himself as the chairman of an organization named Baideshik Rojgar Uddhar Nepal, based in Kathmandu.

Operating from an office in Annapurna Chowk, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15, Gole reportedly collected large sums of money from victims under the pretext of filing complaints and securing justice for them, which is against the law. Acting on this information, a team from the Swayambhu Police Circle arrived at the office on 2082 Chaitra 24 at 1:00 PM for an inquiry.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, Gole was taken into custody after he used abusive language and behaved indecently toward the police team during the inquiry. He was arrested on the spot for obstructing and misbehaving with police officers.

Gole, a permanent resident of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-7, Sindhuli, currently residing in Nagarjun Municipality-5, Aadeshwor, is now facing charges of indecent behavior. Police stated that the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has granted a 4-day remand to keep him in custody for further investigation.
