Trump hails two-week Iran ceasefire as historic victory

Washington D.C. | US President Donald Trump has described the two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran as a historic and complete victory for the United States. Amidst tense relations and recent developments, he claimed this short-term deal as a diplomatic success, stating there is no doubt about its significance.

In an exclusive interview with Agence France-Presse, Trump signaled that the agreement has succeeded in bringing Iran to heel, creating a stir in global politics. Regarding Iran's most controversial issue, enriched uranium, Trump stated that there is no longer a cause for concern.

He clarified that the uranium would be 'fully managed' according to the agreement. However, he refused to provide concrete details or technical information regarding where the uranium will be taken or how it will be destroyed. He merely reiterated that he would not have signed the agreement under any circumstances if the safe management of the uranium had not been guaranteed.

Previously, he had issued stern warnings to destroy Iran's civilian energy centers and strategic bridges. When asked if the US would resort to attacks as per his earlier threats should the two-week ceasefire be broken, Trump did not give a direct answer, instead stating 'you will have to wait for that,' leaving the possibility of future military action open.

On the other hand, Trump also made significant revelations regarding China's role in the agreement. Preparing to visit Beijing next month to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, he acknowledged that China played a role in bringing Iran to the negotiating table.

When asked if China, as Tehran's key ally, had mediated the ceasefire, Trump responded positively, saying, 'I have heard the same.'
