Electric Vehicle Imports Surge Through Birgunj Customs

Parsa. In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, 497 electric jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs 1.48 billion 64 million have been imported through the Birgunj border point. The office has collected Rs 963.6 million in revenue from the import of these electric vehicles.

In contrast, during the same period of the previous fiscal year, 165 electric jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs 430.1 million were imported. The office had collected Rs 355 million in revenue from the import of those vehicles.

According to Information Officer Uday Singh Bista of the Birgunj Customs Office, the import of electric vehicles has increased significantly compared to the seven months of the previous fiscal year. In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, 1,128 electric motorcycles worth Rs 805.7 million were imported. Whereas, in the same period of the previous fiscal year, 3,374 electric motorcycles worth Rs 440.3 million were imported.

In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, 609 fuel-powered jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs 1.16 billion 13 million were imported. The office has collected Rs 2.86 billion in revenue from the import of these vehicles. Whereas, in the seven months of the previous fiscal year, 748 fuel-powered jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs 1.50 billion were imported. In that fiscal year, Rs 3.73 billion in revenue was collected from the import of fuel-powered vehicles.

The office has recorded the import of vehicles and spare parts worth Rs 23.57 billion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. Whereas, in the seven months of the previous fiscal year, vehicles and spare parts worth Rs 17.15 billion were imported, resulting in a revenue collection of Rs 13.26 billion.
