Youth and Sports Minister Stresses Need to Engage Youth in Sports from Grassroots Level

Kathmandu. Minister for Youth and Sports, Sashim Pokharel, emphasized the need to attract youth towards sports, stating that they must be integrated into it starting from schools, local clubs, and village levels.

Speaking at a program organized by the National Sports Council (NSC) in his honor today, Minister Pokharel stated that the NSC and all sports-related organizations must be active in producing athletes who can enhance the nation's prestige through sports.

He mentioned that while the sports sector presents both challenges and opportunities, results must be shown through action rather than just words.

Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Achyutam Lamichhane stated that the Nepal Sports Science Academy (SAN) needs to be made more effective.

Council Member Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta provided information regarding the structure of the NSC board and executive committee, scope of work, budget, status of physical infrastructure, and the council's activities.

Prior to this, Minister Pokharel inspected the under-construction Genji Park and the Sports Science Research Center at the International Sports Complex in Satdobato.
