Novelist Basanta Parajuli Honored with Martyr Shiva Prasad Paudel Memorial National Award for Novel 'Bakhan'

Chitwan. This year's Martyr Shiva Prasad Paudel Memorial National Award has been conferred upon novelist Basanta Parajuli's novel 'Bakhan'.

Sahitya Sangam Chitwan honored Parajuli with a shawl and a letter of appreciation, along with a cash prize of Rs 20,000, at a program organized here. On the occasion, speakers mentioned that the novel 'Bakhan' has established local issues at the national level and expressed the view that the work embodies the social reality of Chitwan.

Professor Dr. Karna Baniya stated that the novel beautifully merges journalism and literature by fictionalizing real events. Literary figures Balkrishna Thapaliya, Bharatpur Metropolitan City Prahya Pratisthan Council member Prakash Chapagain, and others shared their views on the work at the program.

Literary figure Anil Sharma 'Birahi' stated that 'Bakhan' highlights the significance of past sacrifices by connecting them with the present movement and achievements. Besides 'Bakhan', three other works by Parajuli have been published.
