Commission Files Corruption Case Against Transport Office Official and Middleman in Hetauda

Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case at the Special Court against Amrit Bhetuwal, an Officer (Sixth Level) at the Transport Management Office, Hetauda, and Khagendra Poudel, a document writing professional (middleman).

The charge sheet was filed today at the Special Court in Kathmandu against them on the allegation of taking a bribe of 11,500 rupees from a service recipient in exchange for facilitating the transfer consent for a vehicle.

Previously, a team deployed from the CIAA's Hetauda office had apprehended both individuals while the middleman Poudel was receiving the said amount from the service recipient.

The CIAA stated that during the investigation, it was confirmed that the bribe transaction occurred through mutual collusion and prior planning between Officer Bhetuwal and middleman Poudel. Commission Spokesperson Suresh Neupane informed that the Commission has claimed a penalty and imprisonment equivalent to the bribe amount of 11,500 rupees against both individuals, as per the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
