Iranian Foreign Minister Calls US Talks Proposal a Sign of Washington's Failure

Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has characterized the proposal for talks with the United States as a depiction of Washington's failure. In an interview with Iranian state television (IRIB) on Wednesday, he claimed that the US, which initially demanded "unconditional surrender," now considering talks is proof of its defeat.

Araghchi argued that the shift in the US stance proves the failure of its previous strategy. The Foreign Minister admitted that the US has sent several messages to Tehran through allied nations in recent days. However, he clarified that these channels of communication cannot be termed formal negotiations or dialogue.

He stated that in response to the messages sent by the US, Iran has only sent back its stances and warnings, and this can only be considered a mere "exchange of messages." Araghchi added that the issues raised in those messages have been conveyed to high-ranking Iranian officials, and they will publicly state the official position if necessary.

On the other hand, the White House claims that negotiations with Iran are progressing rapidly. The US understands that the negotiation process is ongoing, even if Iran does not immediately accept the 15-point plan put forward to end the war. However, the Iranian side continues to reject this claim by the US.

Foreign Minister Araghchi also commented on a report by the American media outlet NBC News, citing it to suggest that President Donald Trump is only being shown successful military strikes. He accused the American public and the President himself of being misled by the daily "commercialization" of war.
