Prime Minister Karki Stresses Maintaining High Standards Set by 2082 House of Representatives Election for Future Polls

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Sushila Karki has emphasized that the standards set by the Election Commission while conducting the House of Representatives Election, 2082, must be maintained in the upcoming elections.

Speaking at a reception organized by the Election Commission, Nepal, at its office premises in Bahadur Bhawan today on the occasion of the completion of the House of Representatives Election, 2082, Prime Minister Karki stated that the standard of not requiring a re-poll at any polling center across the country and successfully conducting the election peacefully must be maintained in the next elections as well.

“This election has enhanced Nepal's image internationally, increasing respect for Nepal. This election has protected the constitutional system and democratic values, thereby promoting democracy,” said Prime Minister Karki.

Recalling the legal and political vacuum and security sensitivities when she was appointed Prime Minister in the last week of Bhadra, she mentioned that the democratic values have been put back on track by successfully conducting the election from that situation. Prime Minister Karki informed the program that although the election was challenging in the initial days, it was made possible by the determination of the Commission and the support of the government.

Prime Minister Karki stated that approximately 1 million young voters enthusiastically registered their names in the voter roll according to the ordinance issued after the election announcement and participated in the election to elect representatives. She thanked the Commission for conducting a clean, free, fair, and fearless election.
