Jetstar New Zealand Cancels Multiple Flights Amid Soaring Fuel Prices Due to West Asia Conflict

Auckland. Following a sharp increase in jet fuel prices due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Jetstar New Zealand has canceled several domestic and international flights. The airline apologized to passengers, stating that the reduction in the flight schedule was necessary due to rising fuel costs and supply issues.

According to Jetstar, 12 percent of the total flights scheduled for the upcoming May have been affected. This reduction primarily applies to flights from Auckland to Christchurch, Wellington, Sydney, and Brisbane. The company informed that alternative flights on the same day have been arranged for most passengers whose flights were canceled.

An airline spokesperson clarified that the temporary change in the schedule was necessitated by the surge in jet fuel prices and increased operational costs resulting from the conflict in West Asia. "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to passengers and thank them for their understanding," the spokesperson said.

The impact of the fuel crisis is not limited to Jetstar. Vietnam Airlines also canceled nearly two dozen domestic flights per week on Monday due to fuel price hikes and shortages.

Similarly, airlines in Myanmar have also made extensive cuts to their domestic flight schedules. Airlines worldwide are currently grappling with the effects of the escalating conflict and the resulting energy crisis.
