DPM Pokhrel sees need of using arable land solely for agro cultivation

Kathmandu –Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Ishwor Pokhrel, has said that the government was planning to come up with a land use policy aimed at discouraging the tendency of keeping arable land barren; and using such land merely for agricultural production. 


Inaugurating a rice transplantation programme organised jointly by the Youth Association Nepal (YAN) and Young Communist League (YCL) at Budhanilkantha Rural Municipality-1 here today, the minister was of the view of promoting soil's fertility and using arable land just for agricultural cultivation. 


During the three-day programme, YAN and YCL members are to provide voluntary labour for rice transplantations to take place around 700 locations, according to YAN Nepal chair Ramesh Poudel. ---
