Army Club's Binod Rokaya Wins Third Peace Marathon in Lumbini

Butwal. Binod Rokaya of Tribhuvan Army Club clinched the title of the third Peace Marathon competition held in Lumbini. He secured the victory by completing the 42-kilometer distance in 2 hours, 17 minutes, and 55 seconds.

In the competition organized by the Nepal Olympic Committee with support from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Lumbini Development Trust, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and Lumbini Cultural Municipality, the second place was also secured by Sushil Kumar Shahi of Tribhuvan Army Club, who finished the race in 2 hours, 18 minutes, and 16 seconds.

The third position was achieved by Army runner Narendra Singh Raut. Fourth place in the competition went to Chinese runner Wang Qi, who completed the race in 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 5 seconds, while Kenyan runner Julius Mureyuki Wahome secured fifth place by finishing in 2 hours and 23 minutes.

In the 21-kilometer Half Marathon, the first place was secured by Purnalakshmi Neupane of Tribhuvan Army in 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 10 seconds, the second place by Santoshi Shrestha from Dhading in 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 40 seconds, and the third place by Nisha Sarki of the Army in 1 hour, 19 minutes, and 19 seconds.

Fourth place was taken by Sunita Rokaya of the Army in 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 46 seconds, and fifth place by Chinese runner Ruan Xiang, who completed the race in 1 hour, 22 minutes, and 38 seconds. The first-place winner received a prize of NPR 350,000, the second-place winner NPR 250,000, and the third-place winner NPR 150,000.

Prior to this, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, President of the Nepal Olympic Committee Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Member Secretary of the Lumbini Development Trust Deepak Shrestha, Acting Mayor of Lumbini Cultural Municipality Kalpana Harijan, and others inaugurated the 5-kilometer walk-through program.
