Nepal Marks 61st International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination Amid Ongoing Caste Bias Concerns

Kathmandu. Today, the 61st International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is being observed across various parts of the country with diverse programs under the theme 'United Dalit Movement for Equal Rights and Equal Justice, Constitutional Amendment for Building the Foundation of Socialism'.

This evening, there will be a lamp lighting ceremony at Maitighar Mandala. Similarly, a rally was organized here this morning. The National Dalit Commission and Dalit organizations have also organized a discussion program today under the title 'Effective Identification of State Structure for Access to Justice for the Dalit Community'.

Leaders from the Dalit community have complained that caste-based discrimination and untouchability against the Dalit community still persist in Nepal.

Meanwhile, Member of the House of Representatives Ganesh Bishwakarma has called upon all concerned to remain continuously mobilized in the struggle to investigate incidents like the Inisha Bishwa case and other incidents in various parts of the country, demand action against the guilty, and create a situation where such incidents do not occur.
