Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality to Host Inter-Municipality Volleyball Tournament in Gandaki Province

Kaski. Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality in Kaski is set to organize an inter-municipality Chairman's Cup Women's and Men's Volleyball Tournament across the municipalities of Gandaki Province. The tournament will be held from Chaitra 11 to 14 at Lahachok, the rural municipality's center, organized by the Rural Municipality Sports Development Committee, announced Rural Municipality Chairman Min Bahadur Gurung.

According to Chairman Gurung, the tournament is being organized with the objective of producing capable players needed for the nation from the local level. "Capable players needed for the country are produced from the municipality level. The competition will help in discovering talent and introducing them at the national level," he said.

For the men's category, the first prize includes a trophy and medals along with a cash prize of NPR 200,000. The runner-up will receive NPR 100,000, while the two teams reaching the semi-finals will each be awarded NPR 25,000 in cash, informed Keshav Subedi, Chief Administrative Officer of the Rural Municipality. Similarly, for the women's category, the first prize is NPR 60,000, the second prize is NPR 30,000, along with a trophy and medals. The two runner-up teams in the semi-finals will receive NPR 15,000 each in cash.

The Rural Municipality has also included the traditional 'Chhello' throwing game this year. For Chhello, the first prize is NPR 10,000 cash, the second prize is NPR 5,000 cash, the third prize is NPR 2,000 cash, and the consolation prize is NPR 1,000 cash. Registration for the men's Chhello event will be free.

In the tournament, the best player in each category for men's and women's volleyball, as well as the best spiker, middle blocker, defender, setter, server, emerging player, and coach, will be awarded sports uniforms bearing the municipality's logo.

For the men's volleyball game, players of any level and standard within the municipality can participate. For the women's volleyball game, one national player can be included, stated Hum Bahadur Gurung, Member Secretary of the Rural Municipality Sports Development Committee.
