Atletico Madrid Advances to Champions League Quarterfinals Despite Tottenham's Second-Leg Victory

Kathmandu. In the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16, English club Tottenham secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Spanish side Atletico Madrid. However, based on the aggregate result of both legs, Atletico Madrid advanced to the quarterfinals with a 7-5 lead overall.

Tottenham, seeking revenge for their 5-2 loss in the first leg, performed excellently on home soil. Randal Kolo Muani scored in the 30th minute to give Tottenham the initial lead.

The match became thrilling at the start of the second half. Julian Alvarez scored in the 47th minute to bring Atletico back into the game. Immediately after, Xavi Simons scored in the 52nd minute, giving Tottenham a 2-1 lead again. David Hancko scored in the 75th minute to bring Atletico level again at 2-2.

As the regulation time neared its end, Xavi Simons scored his second personal goal from a penalty in the 90th minute, securing a 3-2 win for Tottenham, but Tottenham was eliminated from the competition due to being behind on the aggregate score.

Atletico Madrid secured its place in the final eight of the Champions League thanks to the strong lead established in the first leg.
