Minister assures of addressing local-level human resources shortage soon

Biratnagar –Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Lalbabu Pundit, has assured of addressing the issues of employees shortage at all the local-levels by mid-July. Talking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport today, the Minister said five percent employees were insufficient at the local governments and this gap would be closed soon. 

There are already hundred percent appointments of chief administrative officers at the local-level and 95 percent employees (of the required number) of officer-level have already reached the assigned stations and insufficient percent includes only employees of non-gazzeted- level, as he said. 

As the general administration minister said employees, except those suffering serious health ailments, new mothers and expectant mothers, had no option to going to assigned stations. He went on to say that a lack of required number of employees to handle offices at all the three levels while the federalism was in the very first stage of implementation was expected. 

According to the minister, a draft regarding the establishment of a single trade union of employees has been sent to the law ministry for further process. 

He was of the view of discouraging the culture of nepotism and favouritism in appointments at level levels on the contract-basis, adding that the federal government was sending technical humans resources required at local levels on contract for certain time. 

As informed by him, the Federal Government will be establishing provincial public service commission to appoint government employees as per the PSC criteria and standard. ---
