Gurkha Welfare Trust builds school building

Baglung –The Gurkha Welfare Trust has constructed an eight-room building of the Bidya Mandir Secondary School here. The Trust handed over the two-storied block to the school on Saturday. 


The school building was constructed at a total cost of Rs 13.9 million. The Trust shouldered 90 per cent and the school 10 per cent of the total construction cost, it is stated. 


Speaking at the school block handover programme, Deputy Director of the Trust, John White said that the school building was constructed through financial support collected voluntarily. 


According to him, daughters of Margaret Phillips had provided support for the construction of the building. 
"We have constructed around 11 thousand private houses after the Gorkha earthquake. Now we are involved in constructing school buildings also," White said. The Trust has stated that it has constructed 34 school buildings damaged by the earthquake throughout the country.
