Gen Z Alliance Protests in Kathmandu, Demands Release of Karki Commission Report and Revocation of Appointments

Kathmandu. The Gen Z Movement Alliance has launched a protest demanding the immediate public release of the Gauri Bahadur Karki Investigation Commission report and the scrapping of recent political appointments made by the government. The Alliance held a silent protest at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu on Monday.

With the aim of pressuring the government to meet their demands, the Alliance protested from 11 AM, wearing black blindfolds over their eyes. The Alliance insists that the secretly held Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission report must be made public immediately. Furthermore, they have put forward the demand that the appointment of Adarsh Shrestha, the Prime Minister's Chief Personal Secretary, as the Chairman of the National Nature Conservation Fund, made under the recent cabinet decision, must be immediately revoked.

In a statement issued by the Alliance expressing objection to the government's actions, it stated, 'It is highly objectionable that the government, in violation of the agreement made with us, is making appointments to its cronies in a non-transparent and favoritistic manner. The recurrence of the old trend of turning state bodies into centers for political recruitment is a betrayal of the public and the Gen Z people's movement.'
