Activists Protest Rising Violence Against Dalit Community in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Dalit rights activists and youths held a demonstration in Kathmandu to raise awareness against the increasing incidents of violence against the Dalit community.

They protested in Maitighar, Kathmandu on Wednesday, demanding justice for victims amid rising violence, rape, and murder against Dalits across the country. They also lit lamps for the peace of the souls of the deceased.

Participants in the demonstration displayed placards with slogans such as 'End Violence Against Women,' 'Strict Action Against Rapists,' 'Government Changed, Society Did Not Change,' and 'Unite Against Exploitation of Women.'

They emphasized that since Dalit representatives have reached the parliament after the elections, the issues concerning Dalits must now be advanced.

Furthermore, they stated that those who previously protested alongside them on the streets must now work seriously for Dalit rights from the parliament and the government.
