Peacocks Begin Annual Mating Dance Season

Kathmandu. The annual mating dance season for peacocks has begun. During the period from February to August, male peacocks display a magnificent dance by spreading their long, colorful, and shimmering tails. The sight of them shaking their tails and making a light rustling sound is one of nature's most captivating presentations.

The main objective of this dance is to attract peahens. Male peacocks are very active and vocal during this period, constantly calling out and making their presence known. The performance continues from evening until morning.

This process is for courtship, where many male peacocks dance in the same area, but the final choice rests with the peahen. They select a mate by observing aspects such as the beauty of the male's tail, the brilliance of the colors, the duration of the dance, stamina, and the length of the tail.
