Candidate Secures 43 Votes After Withdrawing Candidacy in Baglung-2 By-Election

Baglung. Padam Bahadur Kunwar, the candidate from the Progressive Democratic Party (PrOlOPA) who withdrew his candidacy in Baglung Constituency No. 2, received 43 votes. He had announced his support for the Nepali Congress candidate, Tekraj Paudel, on Falgun 13.

He had declared that the current election was not ordinary and that by becoming a candidate, the votes of a good candidate might be split, leading to defeat; thus, he announced he would give both direct and proportional votes to the Congress.

There were 12 candidates in this constituency. Among them, Harka Bahadur Pun of the Labour Culture Party received 564 votes, Purna Bahadur Gharti Magar of the Janata Samajbadi Party received 315, Anchal Shahi of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 243, Nar Bahadur Budha of the National Republic Nepal received 197, and Lokendra Ghimire of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) received 79 votes.

Tek Prasad Kami of the Nepal Manavtavadi Party received 76 votes, and Jun Bahadur Thapa Magar of the Mongol National Organization received 21 votes. The security deposits of eight candidates in this constituency have been forfeited.
