Newly Elected National Assembly Members Take Oath of Office

Kathmandu. Eighteen members elected in the National Assembly elections held on Magh 11 have taken the oath of office and secrecy. The members took the oath of office and secrecy on Monday at the hall of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee in Singha Durbar.

National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal administered the oath of office and secrecy to them during a special ceremony.  

Elections are held every two years for one-third of the members in the 59-member National Assembly. Accordingly, the term of 19 members ended on Falgun 20 of this year. Since one vacant seat is nominated by the President upon the recommendation of the government, the election for 18 members was held on Magh 11.  

In the election, Sunil Bahadur Thapa, Roshni Meche, and Som Portel from Koshi Province; Mahantha Thakur, Dharmendra Paswan, Ranjit Karna, and Rekha Jha from Madhes Province were elected.

Gita Devkota and Dr. Prem Dangal from Bagmati Province; Jagat Timilsina and Samjhana Devkota from Gandaki Province; Ram Kumari Jhakri, Basudev Jangali, and Chandra Bahadur KC from Lumbini Province; Lalitjung Shahi and Mina Rakhal from Karnali Province; and Khammabhadur Khati and Lila Bhandari from Sudurpaschim Province were elected.
