Election Commission Expects Completion of All House of Representatives Election Procedures by Early Chaitra

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has stated that all procedures related to the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21 will be completed within the first week of Chaitra.

Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that all tasks, including issuing certificates to those elected under the Proportional Representation (PR) system, will be finalized by the first week of Chaitra.  

He mentioned that the Commission estimates all PR vote counting will be completed by Tuesday. Spokesperson Bhattarai further stated that after the counting is complete, the list of candidates to be selected from the closed list of the PR system, based on the percentage of valid votes cast and the percentage of votes secured by the respective parties, will be requested from the concerned parties.   Subsequently, the elected members will be selected by verifying the names received from the parties according to clusters, and certificates will be issued by the Commission.  

The Commission has announced that certificates have already been provided to those elected under the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system from the Election Officer's Office. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is leading in both FPTP and PR categories in the election.
