Police Arrest Eight Individuals Across Nepal in Separate Drug Seizures

Kathmandu. Police have taken eight individuals into custody from various locations across the country in connection with illegal narcotics.

In Belauri Municipality-10, Kanchanpur, 24-year-old Harish Bhatta was arrested with 830 milligrams of a substance resembling brown heroin. He was apprehended by a team from the Area Police Office, Beldandi, and the Police Post, Bhunda, while traveling on a motorcycle with registration number Se.7 Pa. 2937 coming from India towards Nepal. Two 18-year-old youths from Kailali were also taken into custody by the police with 1 gram and 770 milligrams of brown heroin recovered from the Sadakghat area of the same locality.

Similarly, 69-year-old Dambar Bahadur Shahi and another individual were arrested with approximately 2 kilograms and 58 grams of hashish from Triveni Chowk in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-1, Kailali. The contraband was discovered during a search of Dambar Bahadur's house by a team from the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Ward Police Office, Dhangadhi.

In Mechinagar Municipality-6, Jhapa, near the Old Mechi Bridge, 32-year-old Pasang Tshering Kaji from Ilam was arrested with 6 grams and 680 milligrams of brown heroin while walking on foot from India.

In Krishnanagar Municipality-3, Jhandinagar, Kapilvastu, Indian national Mohsin Hashmi was arrested with 930 milligrams of brown heroin. Following Hashmi's arrest, police stated that during further investigation, another Indian national, 23-year-old Dipendra Kashyap, was apprehended at the passenger gate with 100 milligrams of brown heroin.

The police offices in the respective districts have initiated necessary investigations against all those arrested.
