Iranian Professor Alleges US and Israel Plotting to Fragment Iran

Tehran. An Iranian professor has alleged that the United States and Israel are planning to fragment Iran.

Foad Izadi, a professor at the University of Tehran, claimed in an interview with Al Jazeera that the US and Israel are making plans to disintegrate Iran. According to him, Izadi stated that US President Donald Trump's comment hinting that Iran's map might look different after a war indicates that the US and Israel are formulating such a plan.

According to Izadi, the US and Israel may have devised a strategy to 'balkanize' Iran, meaning to divide it into smaller parts. He suggested that Trump's focus is particularly on the oil-rich regions surrounding the Persian Gulf (Arabian Gulf). 'I think Trump is interested in separating Iran's oil-rich regions, which are located in the northern part of the Persian Gulf. He will probably assign responsibility for the oil-rich regions to someone, and he won't have much use for the rest of Iran,' he said, also mentioning the gulf which is also known as the Arabian Gulf.

He also suggested that the rest of Iran might be taken over by neighboring countries or simply left alone. 'Trump likes oil—he likes Venezuela's oil, and he likes Iran's oil too,' Izadi said.

He also emphasized the need for a government without a leader to carry this out. Izadi suggested that Israel and the US might even overthrow the Iranian government by killing the Iranian president and then changing the map.
