Inquiry Commission Recommends Action Against All Involved in Suppressing Janajati Protests

Kathmandu. Gauri Bahadur Karki, coordinator of the inquiry commission regarding the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24, stated that recommendations have been made to take action against everyone involved in suppressing the Janajati (ethnic minority) movement.

Speaking to journalists after submitting the final report of the commission to the Prime Minister on Sunday, Karki said that recommendations have been made to take action against everyone, from those who ordered the shooting of youths on Bhadra 23 during the Janajati movement to those who did not stop the firing. He added that recommendations have also been made to take action against those found guilty in the Bhadra 24 incident.

He expressed confidence that the government will implement the report now that the commission has submitted it. He stated that they are satisfied because they worked impartially for the justice of the nation, the people, and the martyrs. He mentioned that some work remained incomplete, and seeing that it could affect the elections, the report was submitted to the government after the elections.

Karki also stated that the government has been cautioned that another protest movement could occur if the guilty parties are not punished based on the investigation commission's report.
